Vaults have revolutionized the looting experience of servers, allowing multiple players to be rewarded for exploring the same structure. However, all previous structures still suffer from the first come, first served problem. So, today, we explore “Will Vaults Be Added to Older Minecraft Structures?”
What Are Vaults?
Added in Minecraft 1.21 Tricky Trials, vaults are a unique block found in trial chambers that give loot to each player a single time when unlocked with a trial key. While this may seem simple and unnecessary for singleplayer, servers have long suffered from structures being looted on a first come, first served basis, leaving tens, or in some cases, hundreds of players unable to be rewarded for doing the same.
Will Vaults Be Added to Older Minecraft Structures?
Despite many community posts across social media and Minecraft’s official feedback resource, there has been no official response on whether vaults will be added to older structures. However, that does not mean such an update will never come, as they have never said no to it either. With Mojang’s new drop-style updates, there could very well be one dedicated to breathing new life into the game’s older structures at some point down the line.
Ideas For Implementation
Where much of the divide on vaults being introduced to older structures comes from is the implementation. Some would be fine with vaults in every structure requiring trial keys, while others have shared their opinion that it would interrupt exploration and not fit long-established themes.
A compromise for these ideas could be unique variants of vaults at each structure, with keys earned on location through pre-existing features such as archeology or drops from area-specific mobs. Mojang could also go even further with reworks of each individual structure over a long period, adding keys through puzzles in desert temples as an example of an idea.
Overall, there are many routes that could be taken, and we have faith Mojang will eventually come up with something far beyond anything we have imagined. It is simply a matter of waiting until the day that they do.
