Mojang allows players to test content from the next major update ahead of time courtesy of each snapshot update. So today, we’ll explore the Minecraft 1.20 Snapshot 23W18A and all the new content and changes it brings to the game ahead of the massive Trails & Tales update.
New Features in Snapshot 23W18A
The Minecraft 1.20 Snapshot 23W18A shakes things with some nice new quality-of-life improvements as well as the addition of a new feature.
In particular, players who try out this snapshot can now read a power signal from the new Chiseled Bookshelf block with a Comparator. Previously you could only send a power signal from that block.
Other notable changes include a quality-of-life update for the Smithing Table and the Jukebox item being added to the Redstone Blocks creative tab. Plus, an 11-year-old bug has been fixed which prevented step sounds from triggering when your character is on a block’s edge!
