Mojang is not making any theme parks as of writing this article. However, they have made a multi-million-dollar deal with Merlin Entertainments, the biggest theme park operator second only to Disney. Under the terms of the agreement, Merlin Entertainments will invest over 100 million dollars in two initial Minecraft attracts in the United Kingdom and the United States before expanding to other countries and territories.

Where the attractions will specifically appear has not yet been revealed, but they will be a part of a pre-existing theme park or serve as new city-based attractions. They are expected to be complete by 2026 or 2027.

What Will the Attractions Be?

The broader details of the upcoming attractions were not revealed, but an image by Mojang and Merlin has been released to showcase what they have in mind. In it, we see a Minecraft-themed village and playground designed to look like it is right out of the game. Even just as a hotel, such a location would become popular simply for photo opportunities.

Minecraft Experience Vs. Future Attractions

Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue is still on track to visit cities across the United States with no signs of slowing down. However, the attractions made in partnership with Merlin Entertainments will likely be very different and on a much grander scale. Minecraft Experience is designed to be set up and taken down repeatedly as it travels from city to city, while the new attractions will have much more permeance. One look at Legoland and the London Eye, which Merlin Entertainments runs, are great examples of the possibilities that wait ahead.
