How to Find Dried Ghast Blocks

Hiding away in hopes of seeing rain one day is Minecraft’s latest mob that players now have the chance to save. So, today, we explore how to find dried ghast blocks alongside the steps needed to turn them into their much happier form.

What Are Dried Ghast Blocks?

Dried ghast blocks are the initial form of happy ghasts that turn into Minecraft’s latest mob with proper treatment and care. To do so, the dried ghast block must be brought to the overworld (or the end) and submerged in water, resulting in the dried ghast block gradually becoming happier until it emerges as a ghastling. After that, the ghastling will fly about exploring its environment before eventually growing into a happy ghast.

Both ghastlings and happy ghasts are tempted by snowballs, and players can craft a harness to ride happy ghasts through the sky. Additionally, the top of a happy ghast’s head acts as a solid platform, allowing players to dismount a happy ghast in the air and build from atop its head.

Dried ghast blocks are not yet out, but once they are, players will find them in the nether’s soul sand valley biome near the bone structures that commonly generate within them. The block itself is one block in size and grey with a distinct frowning face that can be mistaken for a skull. Breaking a dried ghast block by hand will safely grant the block.

While it may not make it to the official release, current promotional and streamed testing of the upcoming game drop includes a dried ghast crafting recipe that requires five bone blocks and four ghast tears. The bone blocks are placed in a “+” shape on the crafting table, and one ghast tear is placed on each of the four empty corners.
