Armadillos have rolled their way into Minecraft 1.21, and as of the latest snapshot, they’re ready for testing and already a ton of fun! So, today, we explore how to find armadillos in Minecraft 1.21.
Preparations
Armadillos are thankfully easy to find, making the prep work for the journey no more than a few minutes of one’s time. A boat, food, and some basic defenses are all one really needs, but if this armadillo will be coming back to base, don’t forget a lead.
However, one extra and rather unexpected item to bring are spider eyes. This is the favored food of armadillos in Minecraft.
How to Find Armadillos
Once prepped and ready to go, simply wander about until a savanna, savanna plateau, or windswept savanna is found. If the location of one is already known, that works as well. There, armadillos spawn in groups of two to three, so it should not take long to find all the armadillos one needs.
The Benefits of Armadillos
Armadillos are not without their uses! Every five to ten minutes, they drop an item called armadillo scute, which is used to craft wolf armor. Additionally, players can brush an armadillo to have it drop scute more quickly.
After gathering six armadillo scutes, place one armadillo scute on the top left corner of a crafting table, then one on each slot of the middle row, and finally one in both the bottom left and right corners. With that, wolf armor has been crafted!
Outside of that, Armadillos give spider eyes another use, eating them up for breeding.
