With the release of A Minecraft Movie, the infamous chicken jockey has taken the world by storm. But is the mob as strong as the movie made it seem? Today, we answer that and more while teaching you how to encounter this mob in “How to Find a Chicken Jockey in Minecraft.”
What is a Chicken Jockey?

A chicken jockey is a baby zombie, baby husk, baby drowned, or baby zombified piglin riding a chicken. Both mobs are still considered separate entities and retain their individual stats, but their partnership does grant a few bonuses. A chicken jockey has a chicken’s standard slow fall, and the chicken will move aggressively toward players on behalf of its undead rider. Killing a chicken jockey offers no unique loot outside of what the baby zombie may be wearing.
How to Find a Chicken Jockey in Minecraft

Java Edition
In Java Edition, when a baby zombie, baby husk, baby drowned, or baby zombified piglin is spawning, there is a 5% chance that it will spawn on a nearby chicken. Should that chance fail, a second 5% chance occurs for a brand-new chicken and baby zombie to spawn together instead.
Naturally spawned chicken jockey mobs may also spawn with equipment on, with baby drowned being guaranteed a trident and baby zombified piglins being guaranteed a golden sword. The armor can be anything up to enchanted diamond, making some very rare cases of lucky chicken jockeys particularly lethal.
Bedrock Edition
In Bedrock Edition, chicken jockey mobs can not spawn naturally. Instead, 15% of baby zombies and baby husks will attempt to seek out nearby mounts when attacking the player. These mounts can be more than chickens as well, including everything from other zombies to pandas. However, this does make seeing a chicken jockey in Bedrock Edition a bit rarer due to the mount variety.
