Many Minecraft server networks have come and gone, but few share the history of Mineplex, which has been around since the dawn of (Minecraft’s) time. However, rumor has it that Mineplex is gone. So, today we answer the question, did Mineplex shutdown?
What was Mineplex?
Mineplex was a Minecraft server network that offered a variety of multiplayer minigames, such as cake wars, block hunt, and survival games. While many networks like this exist, Mineplex was unique in the fact that it was one of the very first, opening May 24, 2013. This makes it a very nostalgic part of many Minecraft players’ lives.
Did Mineplex Shutdown?
Unfortunately, Mineplex began to struggle due to growing competition, lack of communication, and the ownership’s increased focus on microtransactions before ultimately shutting down 12 days short of its 10-year anniversary on May 12, 2023.
Will Mineplex Reopen?
While Mineplex is still closed as of writing this article, surprising news was released shortly after the network’s shutdown. Mineplex LCC was acquired by SamitoD, a former administrator, who has since announced their plans to reopen the network. No release date has yet been shared.
Fans are optimistic about Mineplex’s future, however. Communication has already increased to levels not seen in years, real steps are being taken to form a competitive development team, and SamitoD has been very open with their plans to make Mineplex the best it can be.
The official Mineplex Twitter has even tweeted at CaptainSparklez, a former Mineplex Youtuber, who may be involved to some degree. Whether it turns out to just be a marketing stunt or not still waits to be seen.
The Future of Mineplex
Mineplex looks like it will have one final shot to win fans over, and hopefully it works out for SamitoD, who seems genuine in the endeavor. Will you give Mineplex a shot when its doors reopen?
