Minecraft Caves and Cliffs has been the most promising update to the game since the Nether Update, but some new changes have split the update into two different patches.

Minecraft Caves and Cliffs was split into two, but in the process, did get some official release date windows.

The first Caves and Cliffs update patch will drop in Summer, and the second will drop during the holiday season at the end of the year.

So what will be in each piece of Minecraft Caves and Cliffs?

Caves and Cliffs Update Part 1

The first update from Minecraft Caves and Cliffs will include most of the new content like mobs, blocks, and items.

This means things like Goats, Axolotls, Copper, and plenty more should be in your Minecraft saves when it launches in Summer.

Caves and Cliffs Update Part 2

The second Minecraft Caves and Cliffs Update will include the rest of the features revealed so far, which include the deeper changes to cave and ore generation, fully fleshed-out new biomes, and more.

That means you can take on mighty foes like The Warden and try out the new Spaghetti and Mesh style caves that will now be generated by Minecraft when the update arrives during the holiday season at the end of the year.

Developers Elaborate on the Caves and Cliffs Changes

The new changes were a surprise and disappointment for many Minecraft players that have been waiting since October 2020 for Caves and Cliffs. But Mojang didn’t leave players in the dark on why these changes were made.

In a developer breakdown after the changes were announced, we learned that the new Caves and Cliffs release date schedule was in part to avoid having to take on a crunch schedule for developers, a negative practice in gaming that overworks staff.

The different updates also split up the more complicated and holistic features for later in the year to ensure everything is up to par with the Minecraft standard. And it’s not the only changes on the horizon for Minecraft!
